From the page:
The Video Journalism Movement is an ongoing collaboration between a global network of freelance professional video journalists and editorial cartoonists, and you, the public.
Our aim is simple: to provide an internet platform that reconnects the people with the news. At a time when the mainstream media is still struggling to reconcile 'free' news access with ever declining standards, we're leading the way by proposing an innovative, alternative news model, but we're relying on you to help shape our agenda.
Thanks I have joined this site ( I write for Turkish Magazine )
AntwortenLöschenGrr, I can see WHY this movement is gaining momentum but . . .
AntwortenLöschenI WORK at a TV broadcast station (in engineering, NOT in the News Department thank Ghod). My training as an engineer causes me to cringe everytime a piece of Skype quality video hits our air. I'm sorry, the camera built into your cell-phone does NOT shoot "Broadcast Quality" video! Now it may indeed be perfectly fine for internet streaming.
Also, in the MSM "News" field, every VJ that is put onto the street means another videographer out looking for a job, and there are NOT that many jobs available.
I know, doesn't mean I have to LIKE the way it's changing though. And I fully agree about the 'net being a source of less-biased information than the MSM. And I also agree about the media falling on their faces about getting NEWS to the people who want it. Part of the problem is, a large percentage of the population doesn't WANT to know the whole story. They want, at most, a thumbnail sketch of the highlights. That way they can get back to their "Reality" and "Game" shows
AntwortenLöschenWhat gets me, in my business, is the simultaneous downgrading of the source material (internet quality video, positively CRAP for audio) while we are trying to get the viewers the BEST possible signal with the conversion to digital broadcasting. All of that said, I couldn't honestly tell you the last time I had the TV on in my home LOL.
Regarding the other link, I couldn't agree more! We gat a LOT of our news about the USA from FOREIGN outlets.
