AntwortenLöschenThanks for posting this. I was going to do a gallery, but felt it was nicking the idea; two of my contacts both posted this yesterday from Daryll Lang's blog. The way you've done it is funner :)
I do want to check out that Remix nightclub...

AntwortenLöschenThunder Lingerie and More is one of the typical New York businesses in the downtown WTC area that mosque opponents are claiming to be be hallowed ground
Opponents of a proposed lower Manhattan mosque and community center speak in hushed tones about the sanctity of the "shadow of Ground Zero."
Tell that to the patrons of the Pussycat Lounge, a strip club where a photo of a nearly naked woman marks its location just two blocks from where the World Trade Center stood.
Or the Thunder Lingerie and peep show next door, where the marquee sports an American flag above a window display of sex toys and something called a "power pump."
Many come to the scene of the worst terrorist attack on American soil to pay tribute to pain and unspeakable tragedy. They're welcomed by solemn memorials and a visitors center amid the noise of reconstruction.
If they're so inclined, they can also buy porn, play the ponies and take care of all manner of personal business within steps of the former World Trade Center.
In a walk of the streets within three blocks of Ground Zero, the Daily News counted 17 pizza shops, 18 bank branches, 11 bars, 10 shoe stores and 17 separate salons where a girl can get her lady parts groomed.
"There is something for everyone downtown, from mom-and-pop establishments to luxury retailers such as Tiffany's and Hermes," said Jeff Simmons of the Alliance for Downtown New York.
It must be an election year because Republicans are once again rolling out September 11 as a wedge issue. You know, because they care about honoring the fallen. When it helps them politically
AntwortenLöschenWe're waiting, Sarah. Will you campaign against the strip club? How about the gun shows that happen at Cox Pavilion, not far from the site of the Oklahoma City bombing? Or the shinto shrines a mile or two from Pearl Harbor?
So there's going to be a shopping mall literally in the ground of Ground Zero. "Below-grade" means "in the ground." The Ground. In other words, Sarah Palin and her entire gaggle of various babies and ghost writers can visit Ground Zero and honor the heroes and victims of 9/11 while trying on tankinis at Juicy Couture (or whatever clothing stores end up there) constructed within the actual ground of Ground Zero.
This bears repeating: unlike Park 51, which is blocks away, there's going to be a 55,000 square foot mall under the same ground where people fell to their deaths on that terrible day. Ground that's mixed with the remains of the dead. A mall.
Naturally they won't bother because the mosque issue isn't really as much about the ground as it is about stoking and capitalizing on religious intolerance. When you eliminate the inconsistencies, contradictions and oversights, all that's left is political fear-mongering, demagoguery and a disturbing disregard for the free exercise clause. If it was truly about hallowed ground, we'd hear about all of those other American sites

A MALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
how unfeeling is that!!!!!!!!
Hedonistic feet filling cash registers walking over land that should be held sacred and a monument to the people whom were lost.
Cosmicrat told me yesterday there are also a number of Toyota dealerships near there
AntwortenLöschenI lived in that area (a five minute walk from the where the Towers stood) for over 30 years. I go through there almost everyday. It's a fuckin commercial area!
AntwortenLöschenThe World Trade Center, in a commercial district?!
AntwortenLöschenHow could they put a hallowed image of America in such a place?!
</sarcasm>
AntwortenLöschenLOL....she is a mess!
now, - do write a blog about the *Imam* who is going to be the head of the "Ground Zero" Mosque, please; - don't leave out his religious and political views and his attitude toward non-Muslims ;-)
AntwortenLöschenSure...just make sure you include the praise and video of him being on Fox before all of this outrage.
AntwortenLöschenOr the fact that he has worked with the FBI for over ten years looking to put away the fringe radical fanatics that he has said he despises.
AntwortenLöschenyeah, it started with Daryll lang's blog but by it's self was kind of boring - I found the quotes by following Rat's links - A course I add to add the Sarah Palin stuff
AntwortenLöschenIf some one just post a link, you are not "nicking" their idea
Feel free. You know we're a neutral zone. What ShariaV had to say already about that was quite interesting.
AntwortenLöschenI do wish people would stop calling it a Mosque though. It isn't.
Oh.... now you're talking. I like the sound of this. There is meat on the bare bones after all. Agent, still?
AntwortenLöschenok lets look at his past = posting one now
AntwortenLöschenHaha. I love this place. Off to make brunch... look forward to that, Jan. Thanks.
AntwortenLöschenSo what would *you* call it?
AntwortenLöschenmasjids or masajid or...?
definitely not: "ṣalāt-bar"
(ṣalāt = prayer ;-)
No, win. I'd call it a community centre. It's like the Methodist's down the road. There's the church, and then there's this seperate building where they hold functions. Just a suitable 'hall' kinda venue, in this case. What is important is to not mix up the actual church itself and the hall building.
AntwortenLöschenIslamophobes can pick apart the semantics all they like, its not a mosque. I don't honestly care either way... I think it's great that New York have chosen to have this place opened there, but am I remotely 'for' the spreading of ANY religious creed? No sir. Will indoctrination of children take place in that community centre, as it does in the Methodist's hall down the road? Probably. That's how Abrahamic religions operate, get 'em young as possible. Especially the Catholics.
Did you read Jan's article about the FBI Imam? Most enlightening. I'm looking forward to hearing the replies there from those who have been so quick to criticise this 'mosque'.
yes, - I'm aware of it. A ... by another name is still a ...!
AntwortenLöschenI wished someone would build a Jewish Community Center right next door ;-)
and I agree, - they are all indoctrination businesses.
- but they are in their right (constitutionally). so, why the fuss...
Every hospital has a chapel in it for people to go and say prayers.
AntwortenLöschenDoes that make the hospital a church?
This community/cultural center will cater mainly to Muslims.
Muslims are required to pray five times a day.
The center thus has made two of the thirteen floors into what can be considered a masjid.
It's really all the same, but that hardly fits the narrative of the right wing nut brigade.... Much easier to scare their insipid minions if they call it a mosque... conjures up much better images in the minds that are small and closed.
Hey Jen, good to see you over here!
AntwortenLöschenHey there, RP! Thanks!
AntwortenLöschenNice to see you here too.
Steve invited me.
I also have found some friends and contacts over here.
