A brave, articulate, heart-felt article. Hard to deny. Too many in the West have given their implicit blessing to the Iranian electoral results. The consequence is that the incumbent feels in his right to respond to the "riots" with sheer brutality. We have all seen the newsreels.
the powers to be could care a dwid at how the rest us feel
I feel very sad for the Iranians but they need to keep marching and voicing their disaprovel it will bring turmoil to them maybe bloodshed but in the end they can win and only they can do it we the outsiders can give them emotional support but otherwise they need to keep fighting for their rights-
The Iranian president is more sensitive than appears to the opinion of his business partners around the world. He barks, but is careful not to bite too hard.
As long as the emotional support comes from only others of Middle Eastern influence, because you certainly of all people do not want Any support from the States or UK!!
In my view the result of the Iranian election was done and dusted before the voting started. Twenty odd million votes cast and the results given within hours, cummon was this a super high speed count or what. The mullahs and Khomeini rule, the president is only a figurehead so that to appease the people of Iran that they have a free will? The people of Iran know that but still show the rulers that they will not accept total control but are asking for more freedom to live their lives as would befit any peace loving people.
Absolutely. Don't know many in Iran, but I have quite a few friends in Britain from there, have spoken to Sharon already, she lives local. Christians, got out in 1979. Hoping Galloway or someone like that will come up with a channel where people like us can send at least a message of vocal support. I hope the country doesn't become too destabilised for too long. Needs to be strong right now.
"Protesters are portrayed as pro-western and young. While most are young, and many might be interested in improving relations with the west, this is an inaccurate generalization."

AntwortenLöschenWe shouldn't judge so fast that the one fits better to our ideas about Iran than the other. Both probably would continue their atom programs.

AntwortenLöschenThe same tactic has been used against peaceful protesters in the U.S. back as far as I can remember.
