Fellow Group Members,
And so it has come to pass, I started posting in Multiply late in 2007 as a refugee from Yahoo 360. After my 7th fake username got banned from Yahoo Answers I looked for a new place to do what it is that I do. I found it here. First it was fun creating and running my own groups. I founded Robust Debate and One State Solution among others. However, running your own group can be a major pain. It’s a lot of work for very little reward. I realized that I had much more fun joining other groups where points of view that I am not used to were posted daily.
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t watch Fox News or listen to Rush. Nothing against these news/entertainment outlets but I already know what they are going to say. I know the talking points. They bore me. I actually spend a lot of time watching MSNBC and listening to LEFT radio on XM. So it is natural for me to spend most of my time on Multiply surfing and blogging on SLG and Elephants Memory where different points of view are often found and articulated.
It is true that I have crossed the line on several occasions while debating on these forums. I have stirred the pot and created controversy where perhaps there did not need to be. Guilty as charged! I love posting on religion, race, sexual orientation, the environment and pretty much anything else where I feel that for too long only one side gets to do the talking. In doing this, tempers flare, accusations are made, name calling and slurs are thrown out and general fireworks take place.
This is my element. Getting people out of their comfort zone! It’s during these moments that you see people for who they are. What agenda they are pushing. What is driving their beliefs?
It is in these rare occasions where one can see the truth.
A surprising byproduct of these exchanges for me has been a new insight and appreciation for other points of view. I didn’t have this or seek this when I started out here but I find myself with a greater understanding of different points of view. Whether I am talking to Jen about race or reading Jan’s comments on the middle east I always come away with a new perspective on these issues.
For this I am extremely grateful.
Know this, I hold no grudges. I dislike nobody here. I would be more than happy to see each of you in cyberspace in the future. I understand if the feeling is not mutual. I get it.
With that in mind, this is my last day on Multiply. Several of you have invited me to other groups and I have saved that information. I am taking some time off from blogging to concentrate on other things in my life. This could be months – could be years – could be forever! I don’t know. Multiply was perfect for me and I have not seen another format that is comparable.
I wish you all the best in your endeavors.
Sincerely,
Jay
(RedStateRandy)
P.S. Feel free to invite (or block)me to any groups that you think I might be interested in.

Well I hope you stick around to see replies from those of us who wish you well.
AntwortenLöschenGood luck and Godspeed wherever life takes you.
Thanks Jen - I will checking in.
AntwortenLöschenI did see your "Awfully Quiet Around Here" post as well:-)
AntwortenLöschenI am disappointed that the photo on your profile, is not actually you Randy :(((( My bubble is burst
My Sexy Mullet Gallery Special .
Where ever you do end up I wish you well. lol for all you tried to promote a right-wing agenda often you just told it as it is and hit the nail on the head. A lot of the rest of the time you came out with ridiculous statements which others couldn't resist responding to and that in itself encouraged the debate.
AntwortenLöschenI chose the name RedStateRandy because when people on the left think Republicans they have this image of either very rich bankers or people living in trailer parks with mullets and confederate flags.
AntwortenLöschenI decided to play up that stereotype!
AntwortenLöschenI have joined a few sites ... not keen on any of them and stopped posting mostly- Multiply much easier and more interactive :(
I am totally shocked that someone has not seen this and either bought the Multiply social segment or incorporated the things that make this place so cool.
AntwortenLöschenIt would not be that hard yet no one has done it.
Facebook is horrible. Google is a little better.
Hi Randy
AntwortenLöschenI've enjoyed the discussions/debates, and hope our paths will cross again in future. Maybe on Civitar. At the moment I'm posting in WWDC on Ipernity:
http://www.ipernity.com/group/worldwidedebatecafe
Everyone on SLG would be made welcome there including your good self.
Me too! I enjoyed your random "F*CK OFF RANDY" comments during some of my blogs!
AntwortenLöschenThat always makes my day!
You still owe a beer over our Bush Criminal Court bet.
Hey...
AntwortenLöschenwas it really "tearful"? ;-P
I'll hold my hands up to that one. If I get the chance I'll pay up!
AntwortenLöschenciaoo Randy, thanks for being my friend on here, will miss you giving me hell :)
AntwortenLöschensnagging your addie if good group comes up after the demise of Multiply send you invite
take good care and best wishes always
Hi Randy, you taught me how different our points of view are, Europeans and Americans.
AntwortenLöschenWhen I first met you, saw the way you behaved, here in this group, it was a shock for me. This heroic patriotism... it is embarrassing for Germans, here only Neo-Nazis are not ashamed to show this. The Bush years, painful for us, but you still seem to miss him. The wars... you know, the first war Germany participated after world war II was the war against Serbia. We have been educated to condemn war thoroughly and I still can't see any benefit from all the wars after WW2, only death and hate. Our different points of view depend on different definitions and different history of our countries, I think.
Yes it was something special here in this group at it's best times, that we could meet and communicate despite our differences. And learn from each other. And I learned that there are also Americans who see the world more the way Europeans do.
I have to thank you Randy, that you continued posting here, and initiated many discussions. I will miss that.
There is a follow up of SLG at Opera: http://my.opera.com/geopolitics/about/ for all members who want to continue our group.
And there is an archive of the old SLG threads which were posted for everybody at Blogger http://spiesliesgeopolitics.blogspot.de/
So I wish you well, Randy, until we meet again somewhere in another network. Have a good time!
not sure where to go to blog, am on facebook but that mostly for one liners and just saying a quick hello.....
AntwortenLöschenWell, Randy, sorry that it had to be ended by Multiply. Always thought it would be me eventually telling you to fuck off and blocking you one day. LOL Best of luck to you in your real life, as well as to others in theirs. Sometimes we forget to put thijgs in perpective. What's really important in life. For instance, I hope to eventually get a new kidney. That puts a different spin on the kind of stuff that happens in these "anonymous" online debate forums.
AntwortenLöschenI'm going to be mostly on Opera, I think, but I have to wean myself away from my friends on blogster where I first set up shop. My Opera is a much more "grown up" place. If you come back, think of going there (OMG, what am I saying?...no no,...go to...Blogger...or G+...or to ..ipernity...or to...Blogster...)
