Did Bin Laden / al-Qaeda ever conclusively admit or deny responsibility for 9-11? What is the officially accepted version of that history? I've seen links and reports saying both. Why the ambiguity? Surely, if we have him on a video saying 'I did it', and that video is generally accepted to be genuine, then there is our definitive answer? Or if he said the opposite... likewise. But how reliable are the reports of the claim, whichever way? Fox? Pravda? Alex Jones? Give me something we can take seriously? Which is true?

From what I understand, the US government had no evidence again Bin Laden, nor was there any formal charges against Bin Laden. It is also my understanding that the orders for the raid was to shoot on sight; that would not surprise me since the sitting President of the US has no qualms about killing people without due process. However, and it is hard to justify this when the man was killed in his home; the US had declared the entire world a battlefield and anyone on that battlefield is a combatant, even if they are unarmed, even if they are not committing any acts. However, I am getting off topic.
AntwortenLöschenMost outside of the "talking heads" have doubts over the authenticity of the video. Furthermore, the video I saw was vague and could have applied to anything. Perhaps I need to go out and see this video again, or perhaps someone would be kind enough to post the video where Bin Laden is clearly taking credit for the World Trade Centre aeroplane attacks.
Bin Laden tapes
AntwortenLöschenMain article: Videos of Osama bin Laden
A series of interviews, audio and videotapes were released in the years following the 9/11 attacks that have were reported to be from Osama bin Laden. In the first of these the speaker denied responsibility for the attacks.[185]
In a tape released in December 2001 known as 'the Jalalabad tape' the speaker is alleged to have foreknowledge of the attacks. The Central Intelligence Agency claimed the tape was probably from Osama bin Laden. [citation needed] Some observers, especially people in the Muslim world, doubted the authenticity of the tape.[186] On December 20, 2001, German TV channel "Das Erste" broadcast an analysis of the White House's translation of the videotape. On the program "Monitor", two independent translators and an expert on oriental studies found the White House's translation to be both inaccurate and manipulative stating "At the most important places where it is held to prove the guilt of bin Laden, it is not identical with the Arabic" and that the words used that indicate foreknowledge can not be heard at all in the original. Prof. Gernot Rotter, professor of Islamic and Arabic Studies at the Asia-Africa Institute at the University of Hamburg said "The American translators who listened to the tapes and transcribed them apparently wrote a lot of things in that they wanted to hear but that cannot be heard on the tape no matter how many times you listen to it."[187] Some members of Scholars for 9/11 Truth believe that the man in this videotape is not Osama bin Laden at all, citing differences in weight and facial features, along with his wearing of a gold ring, which is forbidden by Muslim law, and writing with his right hand although bin Laden was left-handed.[188]
In an audiotape released in November 2007 also said to be from Bin Laden the speaker claimed sole responsibility for the attacks and denied the Taliban and the Afghan government or people had any prior knowledge of the attacks.[189][190][191]

You know... I went to find a decent, straightforward video of 'Bin Laden' on a reputable news channel, say BBC or CNN, admitting responsibility for the attacks, but it is proving quite difficult to find one....
AntwortenLöschenI found plenty from the opposite side of that debate... perhaps Randy or someone else can find the 'admitted responsibility' evidence...?
Am having this same conversation elsewhere also, with Gurcan. It's really down to which sources you trust, isn't it?
I would not call either Fox, RT or Infowars entirely unbiased and reliable... but then, nor is the BBC perfect.
If the majority of mainstream, more reputable sources (Reuters, BBC, Times etc) agree on something, is it then an established 'fact'?
Bin Laden denied being responsible via a statement to Al Jazeera ( although he did praise them )

"I stress that I have not carried out this act, which appears to have been carried out by individuals with their own motivation,"
interview on Friday, 28 September 2001 with Urdu magazine Ummat, Bin Laden said:
.." have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States."I As a Muslim, I try my best to avoid telling a lie.
I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women,
children and other humans as an appreciable act.
Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people.
Such a practice is forbidden even in the course of a battle. "
Jamal Ismail, a Palestinian journalist, has said "a bin Laden aide called him after Tuesday's attack" to say bin Laden denied being involved
but "thanked almighty Allah and bowed before him when he heard this news."
Bin Laden did not only give interviews to Ummat and Dawn during the week of September 11th to September 16th, 2001,
he faxed a statement to Afghan Islamic Press (AIP), too.
******and surprise surprise NONE of the three interviews had ever been released in any american media publication. ************

...and everything else came later. I am going to have to trust my own judgement on this and lean toward 'he denied responsibility'. I think I've handled this in as unbiased a way as I can, gave the opposite political camp the opportunity to show evidence to the contrary. This was never about 'proving them wrong', for me... only about separating the truth from all the lies. I will need to check out the reputation of the source, of course... Ummat, Dawn. GR I trust, albeit an 'alternative' internet media source. Also noteworthy is that it was an interview, and not a second-hand message, as in 'reports say...', or 'Taliban spokesman said...'.
AntwortenLöschenI do find the later CIA videos a bit of a joke. Like everything else about this tale, they're simply full of too many holes.
In absence of a 100% conclusion, I guess we have to just trust our own analysis? It's just a shame that history will remember the version which is looking to be false. I only hope the '911 Truth' movement persists enough to prevent that.
Speaking of Alex Jones, have you seen the video where he predicted that if there was a 'Pearl Harbour' type disaster, that Bin Laden would be the perfect person to blame? He said this in July 2001.
AntwortenLöschenYes, seen all that... and the British Eye Spy mag that came out around the same time with Bin Laden on the cover ;)
AntwortenLöschenno it was Bush, he planned it all. sheesh
AntwortenLöschenObviously you're being sarcastic but what's the point? Where has anyone on this thread openly accused Bush of planning 9/11? Now perhaps you could give a worthwhile answer to the original question?
AntwortenLöschenI doubt Bush the junior would be capable of 'planning' very much at all... sheesh
