Yes Randy, we learned at school that Germany was a patchwork quilt of principalities and smaller or bigger kingdoms for most of the historic time. Maybe that is one more reason why nationalism could blow up the egos of so many people in the last centuries... just a thought. And maybe it is also a reason why we have castles and strongholds allover the country like others have department stores.
