Online venues do not lend themselves to "privacy" as we have all come to understand it with regards to Constitutional rights.
It's "new" territory. I figure anything I share online is "public". Even if it's on a "private" line.
I'm not saying I agree with this. I'm just saying it seems a natural course of action for those who want to know exactly what "their " public is up to.
Absolutely. Since the US military developed the internet in the first place, I figure the intelligence agencies have had their foot in the door since before there were such things as 'blogs'. I'd be almost disappointed if there weren't spies in a group like this. I know that you're a friend of my old 'pal' Sensible... any group like his (WO), this one, Free Palestine, Robust Debate... perfect data-mining ground. CIA more likely to get someone in the Multiply office at Boca Raton, perhaps... but failing that, why not have a few pose as general customers? Last January, I heard a fair bit about the Israeli govt hiring bloggers to disseminate information in their favour and disrupt threads, after the outcry following the Gaza invasion. I assure you I didn't start up a group on exactly this topic without some forethought and a few precautions ;) Hell, I could be one!
