May in Pictures

A collection of this month's biggest news stories from around the world, on Multiply, and on this group... in pictures

Many thanks to SLG's regular contributors... I've not been following the news much of late and this group has been my main source of world events this month.

  9. I think they were comedians, commemorating the anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down, or something like that. It caused a bit of a stir... perhaps Heidi can tell us more? I left the pics without captions deliberately, it encourages comments

  11. The last EUFA Cup eh? And next year it's the Europa League. Hm.

Apparently, I was told, the last EUFA Cup final wasn't even played in Europe! It was played in the non-european part of Istanbul!

  14. quotes from those present ..... wow after all these years locked away, what a lady ( and aged 63 though hard to believe )

She was ramrod straight, dignified, composed,' British ambassador
Mark Canning, who sat in court with 10 other ambassadors,
    told the Independent.

'She seemed to crackle with energy - you could see the
way she commanded her defence team, and in fact
    commanded the wider courtroom.'

'She exuded an aura that can only be described as
    awe-inspiring,' Philippines charge d'affaires Joselito
    Chad Jacinto added.

  15. Could have picked any... who is this? This gallery really needed to have captions from the beginning. It shows openly to public, if not members of this group, but some of these images - from May 2009 - are a bit vague. I'd love to know what some of them mean (obviously, a few are Eurovision entries :) ...Anyone?
