"Don't let anybody make you think God chose America as his divine messianic force to be - a sort of policeman of the whole world. God has a way of standing before the nations with justice and it seems I can hear God saying to America "you are too arrogant, and if you don't change your ways, I will rise up and break the backbone of your power, and I will place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name. Be still and know that I'm God. Men will beat their swords into plowshafts and their spears into pruning hooks, and nations shall not rise up against nations, neither shall they study war anymore." I don't know about you, I ain't going to study war anymore." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
And that is why he got shot
AntwortenLöschenBlasphemy
The white folks gave the conquered people this religion so that they would be more easily subdued .
Not ,to have it thrown it back in their faces.
yes... sad sad sad
AntwortenLöschenThanks, we haven't had a new review here for a while... pretty good idea, reviewing great quotes
AntwortenLöschenI doubt the people who think otherwise care what a black man said forty odd years ago, even though he's probably right.
AntwortenLöschenthanks... I thought about this reading a blog about quotes from around the world. I put this there to make people think. And Rev. King is right. Very right about this issue. God hates arrogance (if you believe in God that is).
AntwortenLöschenThis in itself is an arrogant statement presuming to know how god feels
AntwortenLöschenLike saying God loves chocolate
Nothing is as arrogant as a god
that must be a man saying that
hoping his God feels that way
AntwortenLöschenAnd he is 100% right!
that makes logical sense right there.
AntwortenLöschenagreed!
AntwortenLöschenHow about replacing God with I, Me, Myself, We, Us, The People etc....?
AntwortenLöschenI personally find that relatable to.
Honestly, any reference to God gets my hackles up.
resist it with wit, sarcasm and intellectual superiority, with references to intelligence
AntwortenLöschengood call!
AntwortenLöschenI think taking God out of the game and putting the problem into the hands and minds of people makes this statement more realistic. I do respect MLK but give myself the liberty to put his words into a formula that relates to me...

Great Statement!
AntwortenLöschenHmm? You have misquoted me. Would you like to correct that?
AntwortenLöschenGreat quote. America do need to take a step back from being the policeman of the world.
AntwortenLöschenWell obviously it's misquoted as you edited your comment at a later time.
AntwortenLöschenI've always liked this part of the quote in particular.
AntwortenLöschenThey are not listening and working hard to become the global control instead .
AntwortenLöschenIs that not the opposite of taking a step back.
One cannot excuse the fact anymore ,by saying ---we did not know---the cat has been out of the bag to long
I'm starting to wonder if ANY of his dreams will come true.
AntwortenLöschenThis is awesome! That God junk doesn't fly with me either...doesn't fly with all Americans, but the loud evangelical/gospel preaching squeaky wheel, always seems to get oiled. That whole American dream thing is more like American fantasy land. The American thought that the US is a superpower to control, I mean help (LOL), the world is also grossly overrated by the same type of people and as an American, it makes me ill (but we all know how humans like to compartmentalize people...or stereotype). The founding of the US should have been the first clue, it takes quite a bit of arrogance to walk away from a nation, convinced you can make a better one. I'm pretty sure American history can prove time and time again that the country wasn't built on goodness, it was built on greed.
AntwortenLöschenI don't know... The way things are going... Nope.
AntwortenLöschenAmerica started off good... But as with all good nations that start with a good idea, the greedy ones will find their ways into the halls of power and corrupt everything.
AntwortenLöschenThat is why Thomas Jefferson Suggested we have a revolution every 10 years.
AntwortenLöschenThere's a black president...
AntwortenLöschenThat's besides the point... The only reason why "THEY" chose a black president was to stop the possible riots that were about to happen. The only reason. Obama was bred by the elites to be a puppet, like Bush... But less of a loose cannon, which Bush was.
AntwortenLöschenKing's Dream wasn't for a black president, but for true equality.
Well that's strange, because almost every American I spoke to last year believed that Obama had no chance of getting into the White House. At best they believed it was a nice thought... nothing more.
AntwortenLöschenDo you think then, they they believed these riots you speak of inevitable?
All you had to do is look at the situation of the economy, living conditions for the lower class especially in the black communities. Something was brewing deep in the bowels of America.
AntwortenLöschenOF course nobody thought Obama was going to win. But the powers that be, the real voices who control D.C. chose him as our next puppet-in-chief.
I have a interesting video on my site called "The Obama Deception" it's a good watch and will explain the rioting part and why Obama became president.
AntwortenLöschenAnd the arrogance climaxed with the election of Hussein Obama .
AntwortenLöschenActually if you check back, the #1 issue for voters was the economy / money .
So, I believe America lost favor with God when voters chose to ignore Obama's sick record on late-term abortion and the insane handling and killing of babies that survived an abortion attempt, and instead chose money/the economy .
BTW, King's remarks are plagarized from the Bible and not even accurately quoted .
So when your Baptist Preacher puts a story from the bible into his words, do you call that Plagiarism too?
AntwortenLöschenHint: Guess what Martin Luther King's occupation was.
"So, I believe America lost favor with God when voters chose to ignore Obama's sick record on late-term abortion and the insane handling and killing of babies that survived an abortion attempt, and instead chose money/the economy ."
Whatever Earnest. You forgot to mention his missing birth certificate. Isn't that part of the mantra too?
Nobody accurately quotes anything from the bible these days. Most translations used are horribly inaccurate. Besides... Does it really matter he "plagarized"? I thought that was only bad if used in school or writing a report, not condemning the actions of a fascist super-power.
