The last Day...

Time to say goodbye. Wondering who's still here...

More than three years we have been here together in this group, which I feel is like a village, where we know each other, some better, some less. I found some friends here, we will stay connected. We had some hot debates, some drama, some fun, just like in our real life, and tons of information. And the communication! I enjoyed so much the possibility to discuss with people of so many different nations about global politics.

I was happy to be a part of it, and was happy to give Mike, the founder of SLG, the possibility to leave when he became tired of the burden of group management. The management was OK for me, but I am not a writer and so I couldn't compensate the lack of great blogs and posts he wrote in his best time, and encouraged others to write as well. Since he left, the group lacked these impulses Mike gave us.

The history of our group is saved at blogger: http://spiesliesgeopolitics.blogspot.com/ alas only the blogs which were posted for everybody.

And there is a follow-up of this group at MyOpera http://my.opera.com/geopolitics/about/ but it won't be more than a monument, when you don't follow and get active there. So come to 'the Opera' and let's start again!

I hate long goodbyes. We'll meet again! Have fun!

Hasta la vista, bye, ciao und Tschüss! Es war mir ein Vergnügen!

Fellow Group Members,

And so it has come to pass, I started posting in Multiply late in 2007 as a refugee from Yahoo 360.  After my 7th fake username got banned from Yahoo Answers I looked for a new place to do what it is that I do.  I found it here.  First it was fun creating and running my own groups.  I founded Robust Debate and One State Solution among others.  However, running your own group can be a major pain.  It’s a lot of work for very little reward.  I realized that I had much more fun joining other groups where points of view that I am not used to were posted daily.

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t watch Fox News or listen to Rush.  Nothing against these news/entertainment outlets but I already know what they are going to say.  I know the talking points.  They bore me.  I actually spend a lot of time watching MSNBC and listening to LEFT radio on XM.  So it is natural for me to spend most of my time on Multiply surfing and blogging on SLG and Elephants Memory where different points of view are often found and articulated.

It is true that I have crossed the line on several occasions while debating on these forums.  I have stirred the pot and created controversy where perhaps there did not need to be.  Guilty as charged!   I love posting on religion, race, sexual orientation, the environment and pretty much anything else where I feel that for too long only one side gets to do the talking.  In doing this, tempers flare, accusations are made, name calling and slurs are thrown out and general fireworks take place.

This is my element.  Getting people out of their comfort zone!  It’s during these moments that you see people for who they are.  What agenda they are pushing.  What is driving their beliefs?

It is in these rare occasions where one can see the truth.

A surprising byproduct of these exchanges for me has been a new insight and appreciation for other points of view.  I didn’t have this or seek this when I started out here but I find myself with a greater understanding of different points of view.  Whether I am talking to Jen about race or reading Jan’s comments on the middle east I always come away with a new perspective on these issues.

For this I am extremely grateful.

Know this, I hold no grudges.  I dislike nobody here.  I would be more than happy to see each of you in cyberspace in the future.  I understand if the feeling is not mutual.  I get it.

With that in mind, this is my last day on Multiply.  Several of you have invited me to other groups and I have saved that information.  I am taking some time off from blogging to concentrate on other things in my life.  This could be months – could be years – could be forever!  I don’t know.  Multiply was perfect for me and I have not seen another format that is comparable.

I wish you all the best in your endeavors.

Sincerely,

Jay

(RedStateRandy)

P.S.  Feel free to invite (or block)me to any groups that you think I might be interested in.

Not so fast, Randy...

ttp://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-11-01/ny-mayor-bloomberg-endorse-obama-in-presidential-race.html

Anyone who doubts climate change at this point is an IDIOT. That was the major impetus for the Bloomberg endorsement...because, as he says, only ONE of the candidates accepts science and plans to DO something about it!
He also mentioned other Obama policies and the fact that Romney has changed positions so much, including on HIS OWN health care policy.
Add the Colin Powell endorsement and the newly formed close working relationship with Republican governor Christie, and the job he's doing for those of us in the storm ravaged areas on top of what he did for the auto industry and i think he's in fairly good standing with REAL, working Americans.

I'm feeling good about Tuesday ;o)

O'Reilly: Election Is About "What We Will Become"

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/10/19/oreilly_election_is_about_what_we_will_become.html
This nails it for me.

I love Europeans but I do not like Western European Socialism.

This is why I do not support Democrats. I do not want to become Greece and Spain. So you people here that are not Americans. When you ask yourself why to people in the USA support republicans? It's mostly because they are not democrats who are only interested in taxing the RICH and reditributing wealth. That's what democrats do. That is all the party is about. They want to turn us into Europe.

Half of the USA does not want to be Europe - I am in that half. Nothing personal!

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
― Winston Churchill

“I collect collectivisms. I’ve already got socialism and communism, and all I need is fascism to complete the set. I’m looking to trade my dusty democracy, but Uncle Sam isn’t interested in a deal at this time.
”
― Jarod Kintz, 99 Cents For Some Nonsense

“Political corruption, social greed, and Americanized quasi-socialism can ruin even the most wonderful places. California proved that.”
― Tiffany Madison

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

MOST REPUBLICANS ARE FOR A SAFETY NET. I AM FOR A SAFETY NET.

I AM AGAINST CRADLE TO GRAVE ENTITLEMENTS.

Something to really think about...for those who actually can.

In his book called "Infinite Love Is The Only Truth--Everything Else Is Illusion" (Exposing the dreamworld we believe to be 'real') David Icke takes the conspiracy that many of us are aware of and awake to....to a much higher level. He goes beyond the Iluminati, and the so called elite/or even the reptilians, to the real source which is the system itself, or the matrix, as he calls it.

If you have never seen the Matrix movie trilogy...all three movies, you really should, and if you have seen them...but not recently...you should watch them all again...hopefully with a new understanding. There is a great deal of truth in those movies, about the world and system that we live in, and how it really operates. I highly recommend to anyone who sincerely wants to take their understanding of this world we live in, and how it really operates...to a whole new, and much higher level, that you both watch all three of these movies, and read David Ickes above mentioned book. ...because it will be highly beneficial to you, and to humanity as a whole. Each person who increases his or her knowledge and understanding...makes it a little bit easier for the whole of humanity to also increase it's knowledge and understanding...and knowledge is power...and the more knowledge the whole of humanity has, the easier it will be for the whole of humanity to break free of the power the matrix/system holds over us.

David Icke, does a great job of explainingin this book, how the system operates, and how it manages to keep most of humanity under its "spell", and why it seems so difficult for those of us who understand what is really going on, to get through to, and awaken most people.

The system keeps the majority of humanity locked into the illusion that this world actually is, through the use of many tools and silent weapons---including what passes for education, toxic substances in our food and other parts of our environment, every kind of religion...particularly the mainstream/conventional ones, party politics, electromagnetic pollution, flouride in the water, vaccines, pharmaceuticals, GMO foods, and many other things. The purpose of all these things is to disrupt our DNA, which is basically like a computer program, and rewrites it the same way that a computer virus corrupts a normal computer program and causes it to malfunction. It is the same basic principle, and it keeps us trapped in the multidimensional illusion, and unable to remember who and what we really are....which is actually infinite consciousness.

He states in his book, that many of the people are infinite consciousness, at varying levels of awareness, with most people being more trapped in the illusion than others. But, he says that there are some people who are not infinite consciousness at all...these are pure software programs, and have no consciousness at all...like the red dress programs depicted in the Matrix movies. These include the Illuminati, of course...but these red dress programs exist in all walks of life from the poorest to the richest....and they just follow the program. They don't think for themselves, anymore than a computer does...they just behave as the system has programmed them to behave.

The last thing the system/Matrix wants, is for infinite consciousness to infiltrate, and over power the system's control over humanity. That is why they use so many weapons to keep us trapped in the illusion of the matrix. The matrix would actually cease to exist, if all of humanity suddenly remembered that we are all infinite consciousness. We have been programmed and conditioned from birth to believe that this world is real, and that the system is valid, and that we are our bodies....but it is only the system itself that benefits from programming humanity in this way.It is a detriment to humanity, and it makes slaves of all of us, when our true nature is to be free.

Party Politics is one of the weapons or tools that the system uses to control humanity. Most people are still caught up in the idea that it matters who gets into the White House, or into any high level public office. Most people still cling to the idea that their votes actually has some/any bearing on who gets to be president. But the truth is, that no president has ever been elected...every single one of them has been SElected, and all of them are Illuminati bloodline. The so called elite, always manipulate things so that both candidates are always elitist puppets, so even if the didn't predetermine the winner...which they always do...they would still win. The idea that we have two major parties, is an illusion..designed to give the people the illusion that they are actually deciding something. This illusion of choice is just part of the system's arsonal of control weapons.

The majority of people will choose not to believe what I am saying here, and they will continue to fight and argue about which candidate and which party is the best. But, when the majority of the people finally wake up to the truth that the game is rigged, and always has been...and that the winner of every election is always predetermined, we will finally begin to move in the right direction...toward real freedom. Those qho support or help to perpetuate this system in any way, are actually supporting the enslavement of humanity....most without realizing what they are doing, or how they arebdoing it.

Slavery is not just the obvious form, like the African American slaves suffered at the hands of the rich, white, southern plantation owners. Slavery can be much more subtle than that, and still be slavery. These subtle forms of slavery are actually more beneficial to the system, and more detrimental to humanity, because there are a great many more slaves, and because the slaves are programmed in such a way, that they actually believe that they are free. Of course, it would be impossible for any slave to think him or herself free, if they had any real understanding of what true freedom is.

Fox News Matches Record Ratings With Debate Coverage, Rivaling Palin-Biden in 2008

FNC locks down another win as viewership rises across cable, and MSNBC falls below CNN again.

Early ratings for cable network coverage of Tuesday's presidential debate have numbers surging ahead of the first showdown between President Obama and Mitt Romneyearlier this month -- and Fox News Channel is reaping the biggest benefits.

Nielsen figures have FNC's telecast of the town hall debate matching its highest ratings ever (Sarah Palin and Joe Biden's 2008 vice presidential debate) with 11.1 million viewers. On par with that record, FNC also scored a demo win with 3.46 million adults 25-54. Though its returns are shy of broadcast competition in NBC and ABC, it also topped CBS.

CNN and MSNBC once again switched ranking for the debate. After CNN took the first debate in both viewers and the demo, and MSNBC reclaimed its runner-up status with last week's veep showdown, CNN was once again in second place with 5.77 million viewers and 2.58 million in the demo. MSNBC had 4.88 million total viewers and 1.9 million in adults 25-54.

Brits celebrate NHS as one of their greatest achievements while U.S. conservatives fume.

British celebrate their health care system in London Olympics Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics included a visual narrative, highlighting the many accomplishments of the British people over many centuries. The story included a dramatic transition from the agrarian era to the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain. Then, after a moment marking the two world wars, the ceremony included a segment celebrating the National Health Service (NHS). The British, along with almost every other industrialized country in the world, have a universal health care system, in which care is provided for all, regardless of income. Pictures of the celebration, featuring hospital beds, and thousands of actual doctors and nurses from Great Britain, can be seen above.

The scene may have been a curious sight for many Americans. If the United States hosts another Olympic games it likely will not include a celebration of private insurance, like Aetna, or any public aspects of our system, like Medicare.

The British, however, take a particular pride in their system of socialized medicine. The NHS was created in 1946, in the wake of the devastation left in Great Britain after WWII. The system is paid for mostly through a tax based on a percentage of each individual's income. On average, a Brit pays $3,129 for his health care, in American dollars. In comparison, an average American pays $7,538 for their health care, over twice as much. The British also live longer, on average (79.9 years versus 78.2 years in the United States) and have a better infant mortality rate.

This is not to say that the NHS is perfect, or that there aren't some stories of failure with individual patients just as there are in any large system dealing with over 100 million people.

Still, overall the NHS has a stellar record at providing quality care, at a low cost, for nearly every British citizen. Doctors are not paid as much in the British system, but they still make a large enough income to live comfortably, and they do not have to pay off a mountain of student loans like many doctors in the United States. British citizens do not have to worry about being excluded due to pre-existing condition. They do not have to deal with significant co-pays, deductibles, or limits on their coverage. A British citizen pays about $10 for prescription drugs, regardless of how much the drugs actually cost.

Some have compared Obamacare to the system in Great Britain, but the two systems are very different. In the British system, nearly every aspect is controlled by the government, which allows them to control costs much more effectively. Because of political realities in America, Obamacare was much more of a compromise, keeping many aspects of the private system while also implementing more government controls. Obamacare is expected to slow down the increasing rate of health care costs over time, but it will never provide care for all like the British system, and it will not lower costs down to the British level.

So years from now, we will not see an “Obamacare” celebration in an American Olympic Games. Hopefully, it does not take another world war for the United States to adopt a system similar to the NHS.

Excerpt from the Olympic Ceremony Media Guide

Almost all the volunteer dancers in this segment work for the NHS. The NHS is the institution which more than any other unites our nation. It was founded just after World War II on Aneurin Bevan’s famous principle, ‘No society can legitimately call itself civilised if a sick person is denied medical aid because of lack of means.’

– More than 1,200 volunteer cast. They’ve been recruited from a range of hospitals all over the country, including the famous children’s hospital at Great Ormond  Street here in London.

Britain Loves its National Health? Fox Nation Doesn't Know How to Deal With That

The Olympic opening ceremonies celebrated Britain’s National Health Service as one of the country’s great achievements. Fox News, which reviles  “Obamacare” as an evil Commie plot even though it’s a whole lot weaker than Britain’s universal-coverage system, found this somewhere between baffling and horrifying.

The Fox Nation reprinted a piece from the Christian Science Monitor about the sequence in the opening ceremonies that featured hospital beds spelling “NHS,”  under the oh-horrors title, "Olympic Opening Ceremony Celebrates Socialized Medicine" (they tried to include the video but the International Olympic Committee has blocked it). Director Danny Boyle, who put the ceremonies together, said, “One of the reasons we put the NHS in the show is that everyone is aware of how important the NHS is to everybody in this country. One of the core values of our society is that it doesn't matter who you are, you will get treated the same in terms of health care."

But American writers have nothing comparable to the NHS in their country. “Certainly the US equivalent, which would be dancing health insurance corporate executives, was hard to imagine”, jibed the Guardian. (See here)  So some were a bit confused. Some, like the CS Monitor, wondered if the hospital beds were a coded message to US viewers.

But not everyone was horrified at the glorification of socialized medicine, even on Fox Nation, and the discussion is pretty lively.

"I was duped" - Brits furious over GOP healthcare claims

Brits, tired of having their beloved healthcare system slammed by Republicans in the United States answer back to the false accusations and misinformation about their system. One British woman fighting to reform England's NHS, who was used in Republican ads to criticize "Socialized medicine" says she was "duped" into being "used" in U.S. ads condemning the British healthcare system (which she supports).

Orwellian ramifications begin to unfold in Syria | Intrepid Report.com

http://www.intrepidreport.com/archives/7023
There is a horrible speculation that the insurgents in Syria may have seized hold of chemical weapons.

Apart from the catastrophically unthinkable havoc the rebels can wreak in Syria and in the region with the WMD, the rhetorical question which remains is how these weapons of mass destruction have fallen into the hands of the insurgents who are chiefly composed of Wahhabi al-Qaeda mercenaries of different nationalities including Afghans, Iraqis, Turkish, Yemenis, Jordanians, Pakistanis, and Saudis.

The situation in Syria is assuming Orwellian ramifications and the possibility to clearly understand or dissect the situation in the country is not an easy task.

In addition to the active role the Saudi-backed Wahabis, CIA and some Western intelligence organizations are playing in Syria, there is one entity, namely Israel which is stealthily espying every single development in Syria.

For the first time, an Israeli spy official clearly stated that Israel supports regime change in Syria and that it really demands an end to the government of President Bashar Assad.

“I hope it will happen, even though I don’t know when or how,” Intelligence Agencies Minister Dan Meridor said on August 7.

The top spy chief said why Assad should go and how it would damage the Islamic Republic of Iran.

WON'T BREAK THE CHAIN:
STICKING WITH JOE!

Libby Sternberg | August 16, 2012 | 19:39

On Wednesday, August 15, MSNBC’s noon show, “NOW With Alex Wagner,” featured a brief but revealing segment on Vice President Joseph Biden’s recent gaffe. This was the one where Biden addressed a crowd, mostly of African-Americans, and, using what sounded like a Southern accent, said of the Romney/Ryan team: “They’re going to put ya’ll back in chains,” supposedly with deregulation of Wall Street.

The “NOW” panel was urged to address this by host Alex Wagner, but from a specific standpoint – “How do we get past this and get to the big issues?”

Jack Coleman | August 16, 2012 | 19:45

For a hot minute, it looked like Joe Biden might have lost Al Sharpton. And just as quickly, Sharpton returned to the fold.

Biden has another possible entry to Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, along with his open-mic boast to President Obama in 2010 that passage of Obamacare was "a big f***ing deal." (audio clip after page break)

Matthew Sheffield | August 16, 2012 | 21:03

The controversy surrounding Vice President Joe Biden’s offensive claim that Republicans want to enslave black Americans has become such a concern to the Obama White House that the veep’s staff have resorted to trying to directly censor the news coverage about him.

In what is widely believed to be an unprecedented move, the Biden press shop has severely restricted access to vice president and begun telling journalists what they should write about his activities as they write them up.

Randy Hall | August 16, 2012 | 20:16

Cable News Network host Soledad O'Brien has clashed often with conservative guests on her program, but on Thursday, she pressed the liberal chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus when he tried to dismiss Vice President Joe Biden's comment that Republicans wanted to "put y’all back in chains."

During that morning's edition of the Starting Point program, O'Brien showed a clip of Biden's remarks, from his campaign stop in Danville, Virginia, then asked Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) what he thought about his fellow Democrat's comments. The scandal-plagued congressman responded succinctly: “Absolutely nothing.”

Saudi Arabia creating women-only cities...

Coming to Saudi Arabia: The world's first women-only city

The super-patriarchal Gulf kingdom is creating a female-only city to finally allow a huge percentage of its educated population to work freely

Women wearing abayas in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The Persian capital may soon be home to female-only zones that will allow women to work within Islamic guidelines.

Saudi Arabia has a problem: The Persian Gulf kingdom has an increasingly educated, increasingly unemployed female population and ultraconservative laws and customs that forbid women from mingling, much less working, with men. The Saudis are fashioning an unusual solution, building an industrial city that will allow only women. The female-only zone is scheduled to open in the Eastern Province city of Hofuf next year, with more ladies-only areas to come in Riyadh, the capital. How do these cities-inside-a-city work, and are they good for women? Here's a guide to the first-ever city of women:

An Atheist's Creed

I guess this has nothing to do with politics etc, but it is worth reminding ourselves once in a while how deeply intertwined organised religion is with the actual physical world that grown-ups live in. I found this and wanted to share it. I don't need a tooth fairy to tell me right from wrong.

Be assured, we atheists do not generally condemn those who wish to believe in x,y,z... whatever it may be. We might argue the science - and as far as I know, there is zero concrete evidence one way or the other. Personally, my opinion is that Theism -mono, poly, whichever - is ridiculous and I think where it interferes with things like politics, education and medicine, we can be standing on very shaky ground.

As well as this stance on 'god', by whichever you call him (or her), I would also put 'Humanist' or 'Humanitarian' high on my list of priorities. This is where I source my strong sense of injustice at the genocide and war for profit carried out around the world, often in the name of one or other religion.

Here, I could say "do a good deed for your fellow man (or woman) today? Love your neighbour."

But people tend to stick to their own little groups and mindsets. I won't hold my breath waiting for the olive branch across the religious divide. Or for that matter, the political one.

Same with Multiply, and how things will go in coming months - people flock together, and some will lose contact, form new bonds. Here's a shortlist of places I've heard this week, people intend to migrate to...

Blogger, Wordpress, Blogster, Facebook, G+, LJ, Twitter, Yuku, Xanga, Webs, Tribe, Diaspora, TypePad, Badoo and various self-made projects which will need to be paid for communally...

As with religious belief, then, or any divisive force like that, people squabble internally until what was once cohesive about their grouping, is no more.

As far as this group and its' ethos is concerned - I'll be happy to see less of the wing-nuts in the near future. Arguing with them is just not productive. I've learned this and that, but rarely seen it really go anywhere - in years.

A monopolar 'echo-chamber' we most certainly don't want. But I am not alone in feeling that the most aggressive and incessant of them, will not be missed.

For those of a like mind, there is a core group from here have already begun to contact me, asking where I'll be going, and hoping to stay in touch. This is a pleasure to see - is nice to know we made an impression.

I think I can speak even for Comandante Baglava, in that she and I intend to keep flying the SLG flag, united, somewhere...

My account may disappear this weekend. Be seeing you X

Haiti Makes Bid For 2216 Olympics

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI—Emphasizing the country's warm tropical climate, vibrant culture, and long-term plans to cultivate farmland capable of sustaining actual crops, the Haitian Olympic Committee formally announced its bid Monday to host the 2216 Summer Games.

Organizers of the LXXXI Olympiad, which would be held in the capital city of Port- au-Prince, said the event will showcase the many attractions that are sure to be conceptualized, financed, and constructed over the next 207 years.

"These Olympics will be the greatest the world has ever seen, provided inflation doesn't render the Gourd worthless and we manage to stumble into some kind of lasting stability in the next 20 decades or so," declared committee president Jean-Edouard Baker, standing beside a stack of burning tire shavings where he believes the Olympic flame may one day be housed. "2216 is our time."

Haitian leaders believe Port-au-Prince to be the ideal location for the games due to a number of civic improvements that could, in theory, be made there.

According to Baker, the city will try to compensate for its lack of passable roads and safe bridges by building a high-speed rail system which, "with a little luck," might someday connect to an Olympic village.

"This is the place where we may be able to possibly erect an aquatics center," said Baker, gesturing to a partially submerged field piled high with rusted-out Jeeps. "We're hoping that within a century or two we'll be able to raise enough food to feed enough workers to move enough dirt to make a hole deep enough to contain an Olympic-size pool."

Added Baker, "We don't have much in the way of potable water, but that hole ought to fill on its own when the next hurricane strikes."

Representatives from the International Olympic Committee flew to Port-au-Prince Monday to survey the proposed site, landing on the country's longest of four paved runways. A brief and heavily armored tour of the city's marathon route gave planners the chance to show visiting delegates the many wonders that may eventually make up Haiti.

A banquet was held that afternoon in a dilapidated structure that local officials plan to tear down and rebuild as a multipurpose stadium. They said they hope to name the facility after a great leader who will rise to power at some point in the future—perhaps in the 22nd century—and bring peace and prosperity to the Haitian people.

Between bursts of automatic gunfire and the frantic screams of U.N. peacekeepers deployed in the area, Haiti made its case to the IOC.

"We want at some point to begin neutering the stray-animal population, so that elite runners from around the world will not have to leap over so many frail and lethargic dogs in order to cross the finish line," urban designer Antoinne Darbouze told IOC representatives. "And yes, once we can get our hands on enough asphalt, we'll have roads in places where they're absolutely necessary."

A local artisan also gave a presentation at the banquet, showing attendees how replicas of Olympic medals could be carved from indigenous fruits and then dyed colors that are similar to gold, silver, and bronze.

"By 2216, we hope that Haiti will be an inspirational place for the world's greatest athletes to compete," said René Préval, president of Haiti, a nation whose government has been repeatedly ranked as the most corrupt in the world. "And who knows, at that point our great-great-great-grandchildren may have eliminated the near-constant threat of protozoal diarrhea."

Despite the many challenges faced by the small island nation, the IOC remained confident that Haiti is, in the sense that it has not yet been officially eliminated from consideration, a real contender for the games.

"Haiti has a long way to go to meet our standards," said IOC president Jacques Rogge, pushing away a goat that had entered through a hole in the wall and was craning its neck to reach his plate. "They need to do a lot to build up their sporting facilities and hotel infrastructure, in addition to improving environmental conditions, developing a financial sector, and quelling civil unrest."

"We're not going to make any decisions for the next 200 years," Rogge continued. "Though after seeing Haiti firsthand, I can honestly say the country faces some stiff competition from Atlantis."

JERUSALEM (AP) - Mitt Romney told Jewish donors Monday that their culture is part of what has allowed them to be more economically successful than the Palestinians, outraging Palestinian leaders who suggested his comments were racist and out of touch with the realities of the Middle East. His campaign later said his remarks were mischaracterized.

"As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality," the Republican presidential candidate told about 40 wealthy donors who ate breakfast at the luxurious King David Hotel.

Romney said some economic histories have theorized that "culture makes all the difference."

"And as I come here and I look out over this city and consider the accomplishments of the people of this nation, I recognize the power of at least culture and a few other things," Romney said, citing an innovative business climate, the Jewish history of thriving in difficult circumstances and the "hand of providence." He said similar disparity exists between neighboring countries, like Mexico and the United States.

Palestinian reaction to Romney was swift and pointed.

"It is a racist statement and this man doesn't realize that the Palestinian economy cannot reach its potential because there is an Israeli occupation," said Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

"It seems to me this man lacks information, knowledge, vision and understanding of this region and its people," Erekat added. "He also lacks knowledge about the Israelis themselves. I have not heard any Israeli official speak about cultural superiority."

As criticism mounted while Romney traveled to Poland, campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said: "His comments were grossly mischaracterized." The Republican's campaign contends Romney's comparison of countries that are close to each other and have wide income disparities - the U.S. and Mexico, Chile and Ecuador - shows his comments were broader than just the comparison between Israel and Palestine.

While speaking to U.S. audiences, Romney often highlights culture as a key to economic success and emphasizes the power of the American entrepreneurial spirit compared to the values of other countries. But his decision to highlight cultural differences in a region where such differences have helped fuel violence for generations raises new questions about the former businessman's diplomacy skills.

As he has at home, Romney in Jerusalem cited a book titled, "Guns, Germs and Steel," that suggests the physical characteristics of the land account for the differences in the success of the people that live there.

"And you look at Israel and you say you have a hard time suggesting that all of the natural resources on the land could account for all the accomplishment of the people here," Romney said, before citing another book, "The Wealth and Poverty of Nations," by former Harvard professor David Landes.

This book, Romney said in Jerusalem, concludes that "if you could learn anything from the economic history of the world it's this: Culture makes all the difference. Culture makes all the difference."

The economic disparity between the Israelis and the Palestinians is actually much greater than Romney stated. Israel had a per capita gross domestic product of about $31,000 in 2011, while the West Bank and Gaza had a per capita GDP of just over $1,500, according to the World Bank.

Romney, seated next to billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson at the head of the table, told donors that he had read books and relied on his own business experience to understand why the difference is so great.

His comparison of the two economies did not take into account the stifling effect the Israeli occupation has had on the Palestinian economy in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem - areas Israel captured in 1967 where the Palestinians hope to establish a state.

In the West Bank, Palestinians have only limited self-rule. Israel controls all border crossings in and out of the territory, and continues to restrict Palestinian trade and movement. Israel annexed east Jerusalem in 1967, but has invested much less heavily there than in Jewish west Jerusalem.

And although Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005, it continues to control access and has enforced a crippling border blockade since the Islamic militant Hamas seized the territory in 2007.

It's true that Israel has logged tremendous achievements, said Abraham Diskin, a political science professor at the Inter-Disciplinary Center outside of Tel Aviv. But "you can understand this remark in several ways," he added. "You can say it's anti-Semitic. 'Jews and money.'"

The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund repeatedly have said that the Palestinian economy can only grow if Israel lifts those restrictions.

"It's Israeli occupiers and Palestinians under occupation, and that's why Palestinians cannot realize their potential," Erekat said.

The breakfast with top donors - including Adelson, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and hedge fund manager Paul Singer - concluded Romney's visit to Israel, the second leg of a three-nation overseas tour designed to bolster his foreign policy credentials.

Standing on Israeli soil for the first time as the GOP's presumptive presidential nominee, Romney on Sunday declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel and said the U.S. has promised never to "look away from our passion and commitment to Israel."

The status of Jerusalem is a critical issue in peace talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

In Israel, Romney did not meet with Abbas or visit the West Bank. He met briefly with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

Romney's campaign says the trip, which began in England last week, is aimed at improving the former Massachusetts governor's foreign policy experience through a series of meetings with foreign leaders. The candidate has largely avoided direct criticism of U.S. President Barack Obama while on foreign soil.

The Jerusalem fundraiser, however, was a political event that raised more than $1 million for Romney's campaign. It marks at least the second finance event during his tour. The first, in London, attracted about 250 people to a $2,500-per-person fundraiser.

Both presidential candidates have aggressively courted American donors living abroad, a practice that is legal and has been used for decades.

Romney's declaration that Jerusalem is Israel's capital was in keeping with claims made by Israeli governments for decades, even though the United States, like other nations, maintains its embassy in Tel Aviv.

His remarks on the subject during a speech drew a standing ovation from the audience, which included Adelson, the American businessman who has promised to donate more than $100 million to help defeat Obama.

Adelson was among a several donors who flew to Israel for a day of sightseeing with Romney in addition to private meetings with top Israeli officials.

Romney flew to the Middle East from Britain, where he caused a stir by questioning whether officials there were fully prepared for the Olympic Games. A stop in Poland will complete his trip.

Four years ago, Obama visited Israel as a presidential candidate, part of a five-nation trip meant to establish his own foreign policy credentials.

A goal of Romney's overseas trip is to demonstrate his confidence on the world stage, but the stop in Israel also was designed to appeal to evangelical voters at home and cut into Obama's support among Jewish voters and donors. A Gallup survey of Jewish voters released Friday showed Obama with a 68-25 edge over Romney.

Romney and other Republicans have said Obama is insufficiently supportive of Israel.

Republican Mitt Romney and the 'Mormon Plan For America'

http://www.cuttingedge.org/news/n2226.cfm
Why 'no serious Christian could support Mitt Romney', an article by a former Satanist, Mason and Mormon. Religious biased site, looks like, but still... as it says, the matter at hand is not the same as Kennedy's Catholicism. It's about how the Church of Latter Day Saints regards itself in terms of American history and prophecy.

If Mitt Romney became US President this year, would he allow his faith to influence government policy? I think he might.

Separation of Church and State, for god's sake....! Faith has no business interfering in politics. Not in a modern democracy anyway. Mormonism is a dangerous cult and the US government should shut them down like they did to Koresh. Plenty of taxable assets and property to seize... so, why not? I hope they take out Scientology too while they're at it. Why are these cults even allowed to exist in a country as advanced as the USA? Religions pay no tax, if you didn't know. That's what it's all about ... money, as always.

Was George HW Bush the illegitimate son of a Nazi?

http://aangirfan.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/nazi-skorzeny-and-bush.html
Since the OSS (CIA), NASA and Federal Reserve, not to mention the Vatican, all have ties to the Third Reich, this - unverified, as it states at the link - should come as no surprise.

GHWB (nee Scherf), was director of the CIA, let's recall. I've thought for a long time that if anyone knows who killed JFK, he does.

This is not just a cheap shot at any Neo-Cons present, or at the USA in general... we all know about Bush and Hitler, but it's an area well worth greater scrutiny I think, and bringing to more people's attention.

I'm coming to believe that the present day United States is just a continuation of the Third Reich... or at least its' military arm. What happens when that military machine - the world's largest by far - decides it wants to invade China, or Europe? You'll argue that there is no money, or that a few Taliban with AK's kicked their asses, or that policy is dictated by AIPAC... but seriously, what will it look like when the USA takes off that mask and stops pretending it is not a totalitarian state?

I fear for the future.

The Truth About the Last 70 Years

http://www.nexus-magazin.de/artikel/lesen/nexus-interview-mit-douglas-dietrich-die-wahrheit-ueber-die-letzten-70-jahre
Last issue of this magazine I picked up, they had something on Al-CIAda by Canadian author Andrew G Marshall, formerly of Global Research, who I've spoken with quite a bit online. In general, it's a publication popular among the 'spiritual' - has stuff on ancient stones, crop circles, alternative medicine and so on, but their mission statement on the inside cover simply says :

"NEXUS recognises humanity is undergoing a massive transformation. With this in mind NEXUS seeks to provide 'hard to get' information..."

Works for me. The political content is brilliant.

And this link, to a German interview with a former US military librarian responsible for the destruction of top secret documents at the Presidio base in SF, California, is about the best thing I've read this year.

Really, click through and read this in full. It's mind-blowing stuff...

Did you know FD Roosevelt had a plan for war with the UK, and wanted to invade Canada? The British monarchy basically gave the Chinese Opium business to the US to prevent this, and it is the reason half-American Churchill was put in power. (from memory, I believe FDR was Skull & Bones, maybe wrong... the name Delano certainly features there somewhere. The founding of that Yale group has a lot to do with opium... is worth a google) - I can't remember the guy's name right now, the founder. He was an opium trader, I believe.

Have you heard of the British and American chemical weapons ships destroyed by the Luftwaffe at Bari, southern Italy, killing hundreds of thousands in a cloud of nerve gas, which greatly improved Mussolini's standing in the north?

Did you know the Nazis had the atomic bomb before the US did, and used it in Latvia, 1944?

Did you know there is an 'autonomous oblast' in eastern Russia, home to thousands of Jews, in effect an 'Asian Israel'?

So, my highest recommendation. If any of this can be debunked, please do. As it stands, I find it all quite believable, given what we know today about plans for unending war and probably WW3 sooner or later...

Just as WW2 was in many ways just a continuation of the first, I can't help wondering if the wheels have always been turning for a third, all entirely stage-managed by [the usual suspects].
