Barack Obama said nothing new when he expressed a hope for a peace agreement based on 1967 borders, but suddenly it seems Israel as originally created is no longer good enough for Netanyahu.
Not all Israelis agree with him.

  1. "Not all Israelis agree with him"

    But most do.

And where does Zer0bama get off planning the future of another country without so much as a tweet?

  2. Just like the right-wing in the US, they keep moving the goal posts.

  3. More than 50% of Israelis and more than 50% of Palestinians FAVOR the Geneva accords, which are based, just as Obama mentioned, on the 1967 borders with adjustments. What Obama said was NOT NEW, but already established as a guideline to an agreement.

Netanyahu won't do it, unless he is pressured and has no choice. Someone needs to do that.

  4. Thanks for this post, Cosmic. If ever there will be peace in Middle East, it will change the world to a better place. Nobody will ask then who gave up his principles for gaining peace, but everybody will praise who achieved peace finally.

I found when observing politics in my country, that the biggest cuts to our social net have been done by the coalition of Social Democrats and Green Party, and today we rub our eyes in amazement that an administration of the conservative Christian Democrats with the (economic) Liberals now try to end atomic energy plants as fast as possible and change to more ecological politics, which were traditional topics of the Green Party. I think that in these cases the parties could manage to keep their own factions quiet. The unions didn't riot about the social cuttings of the party they are connected with traditionally, and now big business keeps silent toward the parties they are friends with.

When we apply this pattern to Middle East, it is more likely that an administration of conservative and right orientation can step forward towards peace, because they may keep the ultra orthodox and zionist factions quiet, make them easier tolerate steps to peace than a leftist administration ever could do.

I hope USA can keep the pressure on Netanyahu and make him move towards more common sense.

  5. Netanyahu's speech before congress was awesome. How many standing O's did he get?

  6. Netanyahu may be a skilled speaker, but a speech containing lies and distortions is anything but awesome. His arrogant insulting manner is hardly conducive to diplomacy and peace negotiation
