Not as much as somewhere like here or blogspot, of course not. I personally enjoy seeing this kind of thing made common knowledge among the masses. If a few more are recruited to the ranks of 'the aware' by posting such things there, all's good. They all have a vote and pay taxes...
I purposely avoided calling them the 'uneducated' or similar... but yes, it is rare. A vast majority of my generation couldn't give a toss about Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir etc... I can only speak as I find about people I see around. Horses for courses; you have to lead a horse to water sometimes. You know that thing about Bono's Jeans line and sweatshops you posted about, for example? I told a friend about it, and they flat out denied it was possible (a U2 fan)... until I took them online and showed them some information. Now they're digging for themselves, appetite whetted.
I can only assume you are running with the wrong crowd pigeon. It is of course part of the PSYOP to convince the 'enlightened' ones that they are somehow 'different'.....somehow 'special' a shadow 'illuminati' blah, blah, blah. The problem is that they can't see the wood for the trees, they think they are the counter 'elite' and soon transcend into some sort of self imposed exile, or little mutual masturbation groups that are entirely outside what is actually happening in the world. Sad really, but in historical terms they are no great loss.
Aaran - I've plenty of friends, I 'run with' who are more into such things, be it activism, revolutionary music, Wicca, philosophy or just a healthy general interest in current affairs. Me? I'm the brainy kid from the rougher part of town, fairly well educated and done my own reading, but peer groups and influences have all been counter.
Point is, I referred to this mass of people I grew up with (I've just moved back to roughly there), and I'm going through individual characters in my head, one by one... no, most are the sort who work hard, then go to the pub and a football match. Some even like to get high. Some have kids now, so they're busy.
By contrast, in Poole / Bournemouth, I'd say it was a bit more 'bohemian', and the people I associated with, I can think of many more who were interested in, say... Gary McKinnon or Zeitgeist.
I'm still in training. Don't lay 'mutual masturbation groups' on me. I know what you're saying... and that isn't the intent here. I don't know how it will pan out, but the intent has always been to create a neutral zone where all sides can talk, bound by some basic guidelines of civility and manners. One man can't run that, so the referees expand with it. Just try and enjoy whatever you can take from it, eh?
The bigger challenge is to spread the kind of info you and I deal in... and inspire interest where there was none before. I came to your page by myself, that's easy. Me getting some of my friends over here, and tuned in... that's a bit more difficult.
Sure... the right kind of people probably aren't 'rare', it just depends on your social circle or where you've been in life. I'm working with what I've got.
To tell the truth I'm not all that interested in what the opposition thinks pigeon, we are saturated by their ideology via the corporate media and karaoke bars in Tipton and Tenerife. I like it when they feel moved to attack me, that feels good to me, but I don't care if they don't....that's fine too....I don't particularly want to argue the toss with them though, theres no sport in that for me....reminds me of Westminster and other outdated institutions like that. Propaganda of the deed...thats where its at I think, its not what you type but how you live your life in the meantime.
I wanted to post this post at facebook as well but I am some what a bone head on how to do these things. I would like to post it to Yuwie where I have almost 600 friends world wide. If someone care to enlighten me on how that is done, it will get done. I made additional use of 38 degrees and posted my own issues there.
Signed - although everyone should SHUT UP with their generalising about Facebook. Yes, it's shit but that doesn't make every Facebook user SHIT as well.
Signed
AntwortenLöschenYou'll be pleased to hear it's all over Facebook as well...
AntwortenLöschenDouble :-)
AntwortenLöschenWhat's this Facebook? Can people read over there?

AntwortenLöschenDo you think this 'awareness' is such a rare commodity pigeon?
AntwortenLöschenFair enough. But I hope nobody uses Big Words on Facebook. The majority over there won't get it. ..
