Honduras, CIA and United States Intervention in South American Politics
Posted with permission. Fantastic article on recent events in Honduras and the training of the people involved...
That blog was so factually incorrect that I was obligated to set it straight .
AntwortenLöschenHere's a copy of what I answered ~~
" And I am here to tell you that's completely untrue .
In fact, just yesterday I was a guest on a radio show debunking this crapola . Why me as a guest ? .. . . Well because I helped train those soldiers at the School of the Americas in Panama in the early 80's .
Hondurans, Venezuelans, Colombians, etc. etc. etc . I lived with them , ate with them, and drank with them . We weren't training these guys to be murderers !! That's utterly ridiculous and patently untrue .
We trained them to be able to protect their own countries from Communist takeovers .
These were very average fellows . Not enormously educated but certainly dedicated to saving their homelands . Some were already at war with communist insurgents, and had the bullet wounds to prove it . Several had AK-47 wounds all over their bodies, yet survived to fight another day .
I asked several of the most wounded why they were going back to the battle, and one of them, a guy with about 6 bullet wounds in his arm and a glass eye due to AK-47 fire, told me the following . . . He said with a smile that it didn't matter that he'd been almost killed and had already lost an eye . It didn't matter because he said his country, his fellow citizens, and his family meant far more than a few wounds . A very very average guy who just wanted to save his country .
It should also be noted that in particular, the Venezuelans were the nicest and happiest guys I'd ever met . Nice to the point of gullibility . They were difficult to train because it was always so hard to get them to be serious for a moment . And now I'm saddened to see that a man, Chavez, has taken advantage of those good people . But it is certainly easy to see how he could considering their gullibility .
A few years after I left Panama, we took out Noriega . Despite the leftist apologists view of this, the truth is we had caught Noriega with drug-cartel members several times . We had also caught Noriega importing drugs through his ports and funneling it to the U.S. . At no time did anyone condone that and in fact many times various diplomats were sent to Noriega to tell him to stop it or there'd be consequences, seroius ones . Although CIA trained himself, Noriega was a renegade, a lost out of control renegade .
Then, several years after the arrest of Noriega I saw that PBS was doing a special on the 1989 invasion . Excited to view my old stomping grounds I tuned in . What a crock of bull that turned out to be . Approx. two hours of complete bull . always pointing the finger at the U.S. without ever even once mentioning all the atrocities committed by Noriega against his own people and our U.S. Forces .
Potrying it as a war without reason when in fact there was reqason from the first day Noriega grabbed power by killing Panama's leader Gen. Torrijos ....Yes, I was there the day that happened too . Long lines of carloads of people seeking refuge on our military installation . People fearful for their lives, and righly so as Noriega systematically was beating and killing doctors, professors, and news reporters . Dictatorship 101 .
Next time . . . Check for opposing sources before you believe crap like what you just posted. "
YES THIS IS THE WAY YOU SAY I LOOKED AND READ UP ON IT TO
