A few people have expressed caution before posting here, saying they weren't sure what sort of material they should post. I point you to the description in the welcome message... History of Mossad? Marxism? A US soldier's perspective of Pakistan vs India (and I don't mean cricket)? Anything to do with the intelligence agencies and geopolitics, really. NATO and Russia, the constant struggle for control of natural resources like oil and gas, Korea, Iran, Kashmir, Caucasus, Kosovo, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Kurdistan, North American Union etc.
I've purposely brought together a variety of different viewpoints... but I see little point in debating the Israel and Palestine conflict for the umpteenth time. There are debate groups for that. Perhaps we could look at this as more of a 'journal'... or perhaps not... if you believe that 'might is right' and the philosophies of Leo Strauss make perfect sense, write a blog about it. If you believe that Zionism is the greatest threat to world peace, write a blog about it. But let's stick to verifiable facts. In general I feel people will post whatever they feel like anyway, and over time we'll develop an environment. I'll simply not keep anything up that's totally inappropriate. I might even allow that stuff about 'honor' killings. The difference between reasoned argument and just slagging off a culture or a political group you don't like is pretty obvious.
Here are some bits and pieces from around Multiply that I've enjoyed (bear in mind my preferences); these are the kind of blogs I'd love to see posted here.
About Sudan, Somalia, Kenya and Arms shipment
The Curious Case of the USS Liberty (pt. i)

All I will promise you is that I will put my own bias aside in my role as moderator here - each group like this tends to become polarised according to the agenda of its management. This will be different; I've done it before and it does work. I may expand the number of moderators as necessary at a later date, both because it is too much for one person to moderate and to keep balance.
The clowns will be turned away at the door.
We hope you enjoy what you find here...

Copy-pasting is ok too, if it's good stuff. What I don't want is this to become a newspaper with people posting fifteen links to the BBC or their newspaper of choice every day
AntwortenLöschenThat would be interesting to see. Choose wisely your admin. I see a lean towards the Admin. censored groups staff and membership in the members list here. I feel your intentions here are genuinely honorable. If the ones that debate skills begin with sarcasm and insults in there replies begin to take over, your membership numbers will remain low, and your active members will be the same 4 or 5 members chatting about how they all agree with each other, like there groups.
AntwortenLöschenI hope your vision here is successful.
Low membership numbers and slow growth are fine provided the quality stays up.
AntwortenLöschenIt is said 'history repeats itself'. We'll see. I got the buttons now mwuhahahaha
Fag....
AntwortenLöschenOh don't start already
AntwortenLöschenAgree, but can I suggest an addition to the guidelines saying that c/p-ing must be accompanied by a link (or links)? I've occasionally come across some, er, quite creative c/p posts elsewhere.
AntwortenLöschenAbsolutely. I like how you do quality control over at your place, too. I hope you'll feel free to post here; I'm sorry I couldn't remain at your place... you know how it is.
AntwortenLöschenI don't have to do much, in fact. I guess political groups tend to attract troublemakers who don't bother with groups like mine. Best to be prepared just in case -.
AntwortenLöschenYeah, I know how it is. :-)
We like troublemakers... don't we pthirus?
AntwortenLöschenI shall designate you the thing i sharpen my claws on, paper bag head
AntwortenLöschen:))
AntwortenLöschenLol.
AntwortenLöschenHopefully, 90% of the members will be nice and sensible people - and it doesn't sound as if you'll let the 10% stay for long.
Don't you love the optimist?!
AntwortenLöschen...let alone "cleverly doctored" ones...
AntwortenLöschen:)
Man - don't you know discretion when you see it??! [grinning]
AntwortenLöschenI see the censors are hard at work remixedphoenix deleting replies and blogs in SLG to control the opinions of the group is a cowardly act.
AntwortenLöschenIf you simply let the group debate without your constant interference, people of diverse opinions may find they actually like one another, and consider others opinions. You refuse them that, by removing those you do not like and that keeps your echo chamber intact. Sad, for all whom desire discussion. Discussion you promote here is ,lets all talk about how we all agree. Boring.
